SingleThread opened in December 2016 and is the creation of chef Kyle Connaughton and his wife Katina. In the heart of Healdsburg, SingleThread is set in northern California’s Sonoma County wine country, 69 miles north of San Francisco. We offer an eleven-course tasting menu customized to our guests’ dietary preferences and restrictions. Trained in Japan, Chef Kyle Connaughton adheres to the philosophy of omotenashi, or anticipating a guest’s every need. The menu is acutely tuned to each micro-season in Sonoma County, thanks to the bounty provided by his wife/farmer, Katina Connaughton. Located seven miles away from the inn and restaurant, the SingleThread farm lies between the Russian River and the historic San Lorenzo Ranch in Healdsburg, California. Tended by Head Farmer Katina Connaughton and along with the SingleThread Farm team, the property consists of a greenhouse, shade structures, loamy fields, chicken coops, an heirloom fruit orchard, olive trees, beehives, and a cattle paddock all surrounded by Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay vines. The farm supplies vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers, honey, eggs, and olive oil to our restaurant kitchen. Practicing the same Japanese hospitality philosophy of omotenashi that infuses their dining room, proprietors Chef Kyle and wife/ farmer Katina Connaughton have created a warm and welcoming five-room inn that is much more home than it is a hotel.

Guests staying two or more nights are offered the option of the multi-course donabe dinner featuring selections from the farm, the best available seafood, sashimi, a choice of communal hot pot dishes, and a donabe dessert reflective of the season.
Each overnight stay includes elaborate morning breakfast options. Choices range from the Sonoma Breakfast (seasonal fruits, local cheeses, yogurt) to the English Breakfast (featuring the traditional toad in the hole) to the Japanese Breakfast (with misozuke king salmon, sweet corn and miso soup) as well as à la carte items. “When you come here, whether you’re dining in our restaurant or staying with us overnight, we want you to feel like a guest in our home,” Chef Connaughton says.
